Fundraising Initiatives

Since its inception in 2020, The Girls Table (TGT) has been dedicated to amplifying the voices and influence of young women aged 18 to 35. Our mission is to advocate for a safe and inclusive society where the voices of girls and young women are heard, respected, and their priorities are reflected in local and national policies, programs, and projects. In 2024, our efforts reached over 600,000 listeners through weekly radio programs on Skyz Metro FM and NUST FM, as well as sponsored programs on Ntepe-Manama, Radio Zimbabwe, and Skyz Metro FM. Additionally, TGT connected with over 10,000 young women through digital technologies and established information hubs that directly benefited more than 1,300 young women in rural and marginalized communities by providing access to credible and verified information. Key achievements in 2024 include the successful implementation of several projects. The "Disrupting Authoritarianism through Counter Narratives" project built information resilience among young women, strengthened media literacy, and provided critical thinking skills to evaluate information credibility. The "Young Women for Integrity and Accountability" project enhanced young women's capacity to participate in anti-corruption interventions. The "YWAG: Strengthening Young Women’s Participation in Leadership & Politics" project advanced gender equality and political participation. The "Promoting Civic Awareness and Action to Counter Disinformation" project promoted inclusive participation in governance processes. The "Young Women for Peace-building and Sustainable Development" project increased young women's leadership in peace-building and social cohesion. In 2023, TGT implemented the "Enhancing Access to Information in Matabeleland" project, improving citizens' access to credible electoral information. The "Young Women for Safe and Inclusive Media" project aimed to counter gendered disinformation and online violence. The "Feminist Voices" project empowered young women and challenged societal norms. The "#iGNITE: Young Women for Elections" project enhanced young women's participation in electoral processes. The "Young Women for Elections Engagement & Participation Project (YWEEP)" in 2022 increased meaningful participation in electoral processes. In response to the Covid-19 pandemic, TGT's 2022 project increased access to accurate information and promoted active participation in health-related conversations. In 2024, TGT trained 70 young women to manage information hubs, which had 970 participants. We also assisted over 200 young women in Tsholotsho and Plumtree in registering to vote. In 2023, TGT trained 1,664 participants through media and information literacy trainings, seminars, information hubs, bulk messaging, and voter registration assistance. We worked with 90 ambassadors to encourage peer-to-peer mobilization for voter registration and created platforms such as the TGT talk show, Her Voice digital magazine, podcasts, and roundtable discussions to amplify young women's voices. Through these initiatives, TGT successfully trained 2,240 participants in media and information literacy, constitutional awareness, critical thinking, and fact-checking. The Girls Table (TGT) is a transformative force in the lives of girls and young women, empowering them to become active change-makers in their communities. Through its advocacy, capacity-building, and information dissemination programs, TGT has improved the lives of thousands of young women by amplifying their voices and promoting their rights and interests. By challenging societal norms and promoting gender equality, TGT is creating a more just and inclusive society for all. Young women from rural and marginalized communities are now able to exercise their agency and participate in leadership roles. To date, 35% of the young women trained by the organization have assumed leadership positions in their communities.
