Mutasa Youth forum & Community Empowerment Trust is a registered non profit/ charitable organization established in 2013 to work and support the meaningful participation of young people in their local communities. This is done through encouraging young people to participate in their local and national developmental developmental processes. Registered under Trust Deed No/ 569/2019 the organization works with young people on issues to do with human rights work in marginalized communities on peacebuilding, disability rights awareness, gender justice, climate change advocacy, democracy, governance, social accountability, social & economic justice and entrepreneurships. Our organization has been in existence for over a decade with good working relationships with the local authorities of Mutasa Rural District Council, members of council, traditional leadership and various government line ministries. Currently the organization has worked and assisted 1500 vulnerable communities, through various interventions aimed at uplifting, protecting, dignifying and promoting the rights of marginalized rural communities in the remotest parts of Mutasa District 250 km from the city of Mutare on the eastern parts of Manicaland Province 15km from the Mozambican boarder. Since the inception of our we have identified that an estimated 300 000 households are leaving in abject poverty with a total of 35% youths who are unemployed. In addition to that we have realized that 3out of 5 young women are facing unreported gender based violence , whilst 10% of people with disability faces gross human rights violations notably discrimination and stigmatization emanating from poverty, social, religious and cultural beliefs based on ignorance that's why our organization would want to embark on this noble cause.
