The Institute for Transformational Community Development Trust (ITCD) is a women led Community Based Organisation in Mutare that was registered in December 2020 and has a functional Board of Trustees in place. It has a strong community presence working with women and girls in grassroot communities in Manicaland. The Organization’s mission is to empower and capacitate individuals and communities with transformational development tools and skills to achieve sustainable solutions. Its strategic key focus areas are: Gender Justice, Women and Climate Change, Transformational Leadership and Development, Youth and Women Economic Empowerment, Rural Economic Empowerment, Social Accountability and Peace and Conflict Transformation. ITCD Trust is currently running two projects targeting young women in entrepreneurship (#SheTransforms - Entrepreneurs Mentorship Hub) and rural young women on sexual and reproductive health and rights (#SheTransforms - Dignify the Girl Child Campaign). ITCD has trained 100 young women on entrepreneurial skills in different business initiatives from its inception to date. Through well-wishers, ITCD was able to mobilise dignity kits for 50 young women worth $1,000.00USD (each dignity kit was valued at $20USD). ITCD has also been engaged by other local CBOs and NGOs as a resource training and research institution on Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI), Women and Climate Change, Women Economic Empowerment and Women’s effective participation in Governance Processes. ITCD has partnered with local CBOs and NGOs in Manicaland on low-cost and innovative initiatives to enhance the capacities of women and girls to lead and drive change across different sectors and to improve their access to knowledge of local and national governance processes. They have also partnered with the Ministry of Women’s Affairs and other NGOs on International Days in raising awareness on GBV issues across Mutare District.
