Bantwana Zimbabwe (BZ) is a dynamic, locally registered non-governmental organization recognized for its innovation, agility, and technical excellence in transforming the lives of vulnerable children and youth in Zimbabwe. As a trusted partner to global institutions such as PEPFAR, UNICEF, and the Government of Zimbabwe, BZ leads impactful programs that improve health, education, economic resilience, and child protection—particularly for adolescent girls and young women (AGYW). An affiliate of JSI/World Education, Bantwana Zimbabwe was born out of the Bantwana Initiative, established in 2006 to address the complex challenges facing children and youth affected by HIV and poverty. Since attaining Private Voluntary Organization (PVO) status in 2020, BZ has been guided by a locally-led board of experts in development, health, finance, and law, and driven by a passionate management team with deep experience in high-impact programming. Our proven track record includes the successful implementation of large-scale DREAMS and Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) programs across Zimbabwe. We deliver innovative, community-centered solutions such as: • HIV-sensitive case management systems now being scaled across the region, including Zambia, Malawi, and Tanzania. • Early warning systems for preventing gender-based violence and keeping children in school. • Economic empowerment initiatives like Siyakha, a PEPFAR-approved model integrated across multiple countries in southern Africa. • Community safeguarding structures to protect children from violence and exploitation. Bantwana Zimbabwe is more than an implementing partner, we are a catalyst for sustainable, locally-owned solutions. We currently lead Zimbabwe’s national technical working group on sustainability and private sector engagement, mobilizing resources to ensure program continuity and community resilience. With your support, we can expand our impact, reaching more youth, scaling proven models, and strengthening community systems that protect and empower the next generation.
